DESTINATION OF THE MONTH: HONDURAS

1. The Unesco World Heritage Site Copán, an ancient Maya city, is one of the most important sites of Mayan civilization worldwide.
2. Honduras is a bird-watchers paradise, home to over 700 bird species. The Scarlet Macaw, with its distinctive red, blue and yellow plumes is Honduras’ national bird.
3. Honduras is home to one of the oldest clocks in the world. The clock is located in the  Comayagua Cathedral which  is also one of the oldest cathedrals in Central America.4. Honduras has a dual capital: Comayaguela and Tegucigalpa.
5. The country of Honduras is one of the first countries to ban smoking in private homes.
