DAY OF THE DEAD – LEARN ABOUT THIS CELEBRATION!

Here’s one thing that you need to know: Day of the Dead is not a Latin-American version of Halloween.

Though related, the two events differ significantly in traditions and tone. Whereas Halloween is a dark night of terror and mischief, Day of the Dead festivities unfolds over two days in an explosion of color and life-affirming joy.

The rituals are rife with symbolic meaning and customs. The festivity is best known for its colorful altars, ‘papel picado’ (or pierced papers), Calaveras (sugar skulls), parades, music, and ‘pan de muerto’.
